Getting Rid Of Slugs
A great tip for getting rid of slugs in your garden is to fill a container with beer. Cut a small hole in the lid, and bury it in your garden. The lid should be flush with the ground! The slugs are drawn to the smell of the hops in the beer! Check occasionally, dump out and replace beer!

Also make a ring around the base of the affected plant using wood ash. The dry ring will make them shrivel up an die before they can reach those precious leaves and stems. That along with your method combined is nearly foolproof!
